Privacy Policy

Protecting the personal information of our clients, constituents and volunteers is something the AIDS Council of Northeastern New York takes very seriously. This Privacy Policy explains the types of information we collect, how we protect it, and how we may use it. We have created a privacy policy to demonstrate our firm commitment to your privacy and the protection of your information.

We do not share information about our clients, constituents, donors, and volunteers to any outside organization unless required by law or New York State regulations. Our client records are protected by Article 27-F of New York State law. State law prohibits disclosure of client information to a third party without the specific written consent of the person to whom it pertains, or as otherwise permitted by law. A general authorization for the release of medical or other information is not sufficient authorization for further disclosure. Disclosure of HIV information that occurs as a result of a general authorization for the release of medical information is not sufficient authorization for a further disclosure.

We will safeguard, according to strict standards of security and confidentiality, any information you share with us, including your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, credit card information, marital status, medical information, HIV status, or any other information in your personal record.

We will limit the collection and use of your information to the minimum we require, which includes sharing information with you about our programs and services, activities, special events, and annual financial information, or as mandated by New York State law governing HIV reporting regulations.

We permit only authorized staff members, who are trained in the proper handling of your information, to have access to that information. Information submitted to us is only available to employees managing this information for purposes of contacting you based on your request for information and to contracted service providers for purposes of providing services relating to our communications with you.

We will always maintain control over the confidentially of your information. We use security measures to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of data used by our system.

We will diligently attempt to keep information about you complete, up-to-date and accurate.
